In preparation for winter, BREC will close park splash pads at City-Brooks, Forest, Greenwood, Jackson, Highland Road and Zachary Community Parks on Tuesday, Oct. 31, for the 2017 season.

An educational grant from the genetics testing firm 23andMe Inc. will enable some Southeastern Louisiana University students taking undergraduate biology courses the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of genetics than in a traditional course.

Based on the book "The Dot," by Peter Reynolds, students at Rollins Place Elementary recently celebrated International Dot Day, a newsletter from the Zachary school superintendent said.
